Stories Of IMPACT -3
The other night I was at House of Java doing my homework and I came back outside
to my car to get my headphones. When I came to my car there was a lady standing
there and she said, "excuse me, would you happen to have any money, its for my
family I swear." As soon as she asked I knew it was God that sent me back out to
my car. So the woman and I walked next door to Raleys. We strolled through the
store buying groceries for her family together. I was able to talk to her and
find out about her life and fill the cart up with the things she needed. We went
to the check out and she helped me bag the groceries up. Once we came outside
and tied all of the groceries to her bike I was then able to pray for her. The
20.00 that was given to me on Sunday went a lot further than i ever expected.

We gave our money to a non-profit organization near and dear to my heart-Haven
Women's Center in Modesto who provide free services such as shelter, legal, case
management and counseling services to women and children escaping domestic
violence or dealing with sexual assault.? I worked there as a counselor for 3
years and I have to say they are one of the most awesome agencies around, I still
refer clients to them regularly and they run solely on grants and private
donations.

I received 5$ in my envelope and it inspired me to do more than I would have ever
thought to do on my own. I began thinking what should I do with this money. And
soon after it came to me that the person I should try to help is my best friend
who is going through a tough time. She recently lost her job and is just trying
to figure out where to go from there. I decided that flowers would be a nice
gift to send her and hopefully it would bring a smile to her face in the middle
of a not so great day. in the middle of all this thinking and planning I was in
the starbucks drive thru and just decided that I needed to pay for the person
behind me in line. It was the first time I've ever actually felt God answering a
question of mine right after I asked. (I had said to God "If you want me to pay
for someone elses coffee then make someone pull in behind me" and he did!) I
have no idea the impact it made but I hope it was a positive one. So back to the
flowers for my friend. I placed the order and set it up so they would be
delivered while she was home. When I saw her that night she seemed a little
brighter and gave me a huge hug. I could have never imagined the actual feeling
I got from seeing her be so happy because of my small gesture. I am extremely
grateful that God called our church to give back in such a big way. Thank you
guys so very much and Many Many Thanks to God who provided two perfect
opportunities to show his love.

I received $5, and I decided to put it towards helping one of my former
students in 7th grade. He still didn't have a binder and we're in the
4th week of school. I went and bought him a binder, a pack of 6
highlighters, paper, pencils, and some M&M's for a treat. I continue to
stay in contact with this young man, hopefully motivating him to want to
learn and finish his education. I wish I could do more, but at least he
knows someone cares about him.

I left church last Sunday and drove through Taco Bell for lunch. I explained to
the gal at the drive through window about the opportunity given to those who
attend New Life and asked her to take the $10.00 (we each had $5.00) and pay for
the person in the car behind me. She looked stunned and quickly said, "O.K.!"
As I was spending time with friends that afternoon, I had to share the
story.....they were amazed. I posed the question to them....."What if we all did
a little of this all the time?" I hope and pray they continue to think about it
and then ACT!

Hi, NLCC!
I don't get out much here in Turlock, so I wondered how I was going to make an
impact on anybody with the $20 (!!!) that I pulled out of the basket. My son had
got $5, but chickened out on buying a bunch of treats for his middle school
classmates, so we combined our efforts. Anyway, I found myself on the back
streets of Ceres--which is a story in itself--and noticed a young Hispanic couple
pushing a cart. I was just passing by, but felt like I ought to go back for a
closer look.
It turned out they were selling snow cones, mangoes and "doritos". They were
working for someone else who set them up in "business" and paid them about $50 a
day. I bought a snow cone and gave them the $25 saying, "Por tu". They wanted to
give the money back, but I gestured they should keep it. Unfortunately I don't
speak much Espanol, but I said, "En el Nombre de Jesus Christo." I think they got
the point.
This was a really cool idea. I've enjoyed telling people about it.

Well I wanted to let you know what I did with the money, so here's my short
story...
I went to Starbucks Monday morning and paid for my drink (drive through line)
then right before I left I handed the girl my $10.00 and said that she was to use
this 10 to buy a few drinks for the people in line behind me (I know at Starbucks
it won't go too far) but it was amazing. Her face was shocked and she kept
repeating "really? I can't believe you are doing this" and then she got another
employee and brought her to the window to tell her what I was doing. as I drove
away they were still saying "wow, I can't believe this, seriously, amazing" it
was just great! I see these gals whenever I go to Starbucks on my way to work
and now I feel like they have seen kindness, Jesus' kindness in action, I can't
wait for the doors this will open! thank you so much for this amazing
experience, you guys took a bold move and that is why a church like ours is
thriving spiritually, we are not afraid to take a stand and be bold! Thanks, I
will never forget this past week!

Thank your for act of giving back. Here's my story: After the 9AM service
as usual we go out to breakfast. At breakfast we discussed what we might be
looking for the right person or situation. Well after returning to our
vehicle beside the door on the ground is a crispy one dollar bill. Then after
getting home, a message from my best friend who's been very ill for the past
year, lost 103 lbs, wouldn't accept phone calls, depressed, etc. it was his
first phone call to a non-family friend and wanting to have early dinner with
him, wife and son. This was music to my ears. Project Impact has blessed us
deeply. Discussing this gift with others and impressed others, Its all about
LOVE. Because within two hours our prayers came thru once more.

My story is after seeing my grandson's Wednesday night at Awanas I saw a
homeless person parked outside your church gate, hood up with dog and pickup bed
with bedding, etc. I told my daughter if that Man outside was still there
when I left, I was going to give him my $5.00. We'll he still there, when I
approached him, a visited with him, he offered me some of his dog's, dog food
if I could use it, but he was down on his luck too, a former minister,
looking for odd jobs, recently had an accident on Mitchell, luckily not his
fault, but no insurance (scary) but he was very appreciative of my $5.00 as well as
my daughter's $5.00 He was so happy. He prayed with us, and quoting out of
the Bible to us. (An addict will buy more, but this man had dog food and
probably eating it, care for the dog before himself.) I suspect. You have
truly made me open my eyes and ears to more things going on around me.
