Stories Of IMPACT
I gave so a mom could give to her children . . . when there are times she can’t, I know how hard it is to be a mom and raise children on your own so I went to McDonalds and purchased two $5.00 gift cards and gave them to a single mom who has two children. I told her to use them how she wanted but I know sometimes it is hard to “treat” the kids when they do good things. Chores and homework so she can show them she loves and appreciates them.

When I received the envelope from New Life I was so excited. I received $5.00. I isn’t much money so what could I do? First off, it really made me think about doing something for others. These are some of the things I did:
- Got on the phone and called those people that I hadn’t talked to in quite a while. Those I couldn’t reach, I wrote to.
- I mailed a book to a friend I know she will enjoy it.
- On my daily walk, I stopped and cleaned up the park.
- On Saturday, I drove to Modesto Gospel Mission and gave them the money. I added two extra large jars of peanut butter too.
It was great fun and I felt wonderful doing something good for someone else. Thank you – New Life is such a fantastic church.

We put our money together that we were given and gave the money to the family across from us. They are out of work. I only speak and understand a little Spanish. I let them know we wanted nothing in return. They were grateful.
Went for lunch after church and the place was really crowded. A waitress that was in charge of another area seen that we hadn’t been waited on yet, so she came over to take our order. She went beyond her duty. I gave her the $20.00 that I received. Thank you for this powerful concept!

My daughter, my husband and myself combined our money and bought school supplies for a very needy family in Stevinson. This family has five children and took in an additional four children. We have been helping them out already, and this was an extra bonus for them. This was a great idea! This made my day, it made my week!

Because I knew I would be at school today, I determined in my heart today that would be the day to impact another with God’s gift. A guy in my class had forgotten his money for our guitar book. It just so happened the cost was the same amount in my “impact” envelope. At first, he would not receive the gift, but he eventually did and was extremely thankful. Praise God!

I gave my $5.00 to a homeless man living out of his car. This man was so very thankful for this gift. Thank you New Life and Pastor Dave for opening my eyes to really seeing the needs of so many other people.

I added to my $5.00 and bought a plant for my elderly neighbor. I took it to her and had a nice visit with her. I plan to have her over for dinner and keep seeing her. What a great idea.

The $5.00 went towards a bag of Jellie Bellies for my friend and neighbor who recently moved into Cypress Assisted Living. I visited her today and delivered them. She was thrilled to get them.

This weekend, I went on a Tennis Tournament with my high school team. I was given $5.00, with that I gave to one of my teammates who didn’t have enough money for food. I told her, “God loves you.” She was very thankful.

My sister has cancer and I have been financially unable to help her monetarily. Thanks to the church, my husband and I each matched our $5 in our envelopes and sent her $20. We pray that the Lord protects her and we thank Him for your kindness.

I gave the gift of money to a young lady that has three children and is expecting her fourth child. She has had to take a leave of absence from work due to medical problems and there is quite a lot of stress in her life. She has been on my heart and I know this gift touched her heart.

I had not yet come up with an idea and then I had to go to Staples to use their fax machine. At the check-out there was a sign to give school supplies for children and that is what I decided to do. Maybe thanks to New Life, some child or teacher will be able to get something that they otherwise would have to do without.

I bought a new pair of pants for one of my students. He asked me why I was doing this? I explained about the church giving everyone money to do something good. I also injected that the “doing something good for someone else cycle” must not be broken.

I purchased some toothpaste, a toothbrush and floss for a child at our school.
Project YES (Youth Emp Services) is my Impact Story. We work with very at-risk youth, trying to help them turn their lives around.

I took my nephew who is 22 months to Walmart to have a professional portrait taken. His last profession photo was taken when he was 4 months old. His parents are living on one income. His dad has been unemployed for a year. Finances are tight, and a professional photo is an extra expense. I thought that with the $5 I had to spend, what a great value. The special was 30 photos for $4.99. I plan to surprise his parents in a couple of weeks when the pictures are ready.

With my $5 I bought flowers for my supervisor because she is going through a divorce right now and I figured she needed them.

I used the $5 I received to purchase food for the food closet.

With $10, 50 of the guests of Turlock Gospel Mission got a homemade peanutbutter/oat/M&M cookie, wrapped in a card with a handwritten Scripture and prayer for them. Thank your for providing the means to bless them and love them in the strong name of Jesus. I feel abundantly blessed being a small part of their lives.

I tried to give my $ to a man in a wheel chair in front of Raley’s Turlock. It didn’t go well, as I offended him. See I have never given money to homeless or pan handlers. This gentleman was neither. My time was counting down as I was learning about myself and judgements I make or when I am comfortable. I gave the money to a man talking to himself in front of Raley’s in Oakdale. Thanks for the experience, it really affected me.

My husband and I received $50.00 each in the envelopes. We decided that we would find a poor, struggling family in the Chatom School District where I used to work that really needed the money. I prayed about it and by Friday, I got word that a single mom, was having trouble paying her daughter's cafeteria bill. I got the address and we went to see her. She and her daughter live in the poorest of conditions right here in a Ceres address where she helps her brother feed pigs. The conditions are the saddest I have seen in this county. We explained to her that the gifts came from the Lord through our church. She had no idea what was in each envelope but she thanked us in a very humble way in Spanish. Then I suddenly realized that she was wearing a cap on her head and the cap read JESUS and a cross was right next to our Lord's name. I will continue to help this lady and her little girl. Thank you and the church leaders for the opportunity to reach out and learn of someone who needs my help now.
God bless you.

My mother received $5.00 in her envelope and decided to take a plant to a friend of hers who had just entered an assisted living residence. She was very appreciative and we had a nice visit with her. My husband and I each received $5.00 in our envelopes and really couldn't decide what to do with the money.
We have a grandson who is a student pastor in Stockton and while visiting with him two days ago, he told me that he and two of his friends go to an area there where some of the homeless people stay. He said they take Bibles there and pizzas once a week and visit with them and discuss what they have read. That was when we decided that we would give him the money and help him pay for some more meals for the people they have been trying to help. We actually gave him $40.00 and we probably felt as good giving it as he did receiving it.

I got $5.00 to impact someone's life. My husband and I were going to be away for
the weekend in another town. I decided to do something before the weekend. I work
at a retail store and I knew of a couple of ladies there (who my heart goes out
to). I decided prayerfully who I was going to give it to. I decided to get a card
that says, "I am thinking about you and your situation"(in a sense). I inserted
the $5.00 and said this is for you to spend on yourself only to enjoy yourself!
I called her at work one day before we left town and said "You've got
mail", so that she would check her mailbox at work! She said "Oh, ok!". Then, I
told her I would see her at work after the weekend.
When I got back to work, she passed by me and said " thank you for that"
and I responded, "you are welcome!" and that's about it! She is a quiet person
and doesn't say a lot, but what she says she means. I think she was touched!
Thank you for the opportunity to touch her. I know I, too, can do that on
my own!

I received the $10.00 in the Project Impact envelope. I sincerely thought and pray for the right opportunity to act. I received a monthly news letter from the Modesto Gospel Mission, requested items caught my eye. I went to the dollar store and had the best time selecting food items, while looking at a one pound can of beans this would feed 3.5 people, so I decided to feed 24 people, purchasing items to complete the meal, and condiments and spices too. Who wants boring food. I promptly deliver the food items to the Missionas I pulled into the donation area a man came out to the car asked what was I donating when I said I food, his face light up and he said loudly " Hey she bought food" to his fellow workers. Adding to the ten dollars and acting to feed 24 hungry people was very uplifting and I can't wait to impact lives again.

When we heard about the project, a family popped into my mind. I thought, “Oh, I hope I get a hundred, so I can get them gift cards to buy clothes.” Well, my envelope contained $5, not $100, but I realized how much God has been blessing me lately, including monetarily. So I used “my” money to get the gift cards for this family who has truly been living my faith this year.

I got $5.00 in my envelope. I went to Wendy's drive-thru ordered my lunch paid for it. I asked the cashier how much was the other persons lunch (the one behind me). She told me. And I said I want to pay for it. And she said, Is she your friend?" I said "No, I don't even know her!" I told the cashier just tell her that the lady ahead of her paid for it. The cashier said okay and smiled.

Just wanted to let you all know what we decided to do. Another woman from the church & I pooled our "ACT" $ and matched it to purchase personal & grocery items for a woman who lives in very poor conditions with no electricity and a barely viable home. We asked Celeste Gregg if she knew of anyone with a particular need.
We're going to be delivering it Tuesday-had to wait that long to get all of our schedules together because we were afraid she'd be offended or embarrassed if she didn't know someone. Plus, we'd like to pray for her while we're there.
It was hard to pick one thing to do. My mind came up with several things that I decided I should do anyway, which I've been working on one at a time. I guess I might have just thought of things before & was meaning to do them, but didn't "act" on them because of one reason or another, but God always seems to provide
financially, it's just a little scary when finances are tight.

Once Pastor Dave announced that the church was going to be handing out money, I immediately decided to match the amount. When I opened the envelope later at home, I received $5 dollars and so did my husband. At that point, we knew we would combine our money which now was $20. I was excited to see where God would use the money. Well, my week went on, and I had not been anywhere except work and my home! At night I would wonder how I would use the money.

On Thursday, September 11th, I had a group of students ask if they could have a meeting in my classroom, I agreed. I was diligently working, not really paying much attention to what they were talking about until I heard a young girl say "I don't have enough money to buy everyone bracelets." So I started to pay
attention to what they were discussing. There meeting was a "See You at the Pole" meeting. Once I realized this, I spoke up from my desk saying I would buy all the bracelets for this event. I got a little nervous that I committed to doing this. Later, I remembered about the money from NLCC, and I was so excited
to be able to use it for such a wonderful outreach. I got on to the "See You at the Pole" website and immediately ordered the bracelets. Now, 200 students on September 24th, a day for the students to pray at the school will have a bracelet
to remember this important day. Hopefully, this will lead to many more students seeing Christian leaders on their campus, and will want what they have:
Our gracious and loving God!

I was out of town last week but my husband, went to church and got a project impact envelope with $5 in it. I got home later in the week and Thursday evening he told me about it and was upset because he had been looking but hadn't had any
opportunities to use it.

My Husband works in the bay area and Friday afternoon there was a ton of traffic on the Altamont so he was very late getting to the van-pool stop where his truck is parked. When he was about to get in and drive the 30 miles home, a guy came up to him and asked where the nearest gas station was. The man looked very hot, tired, and stressed out, and explained that he had ran out of gas because he had sat so long in the traffic. He also said that his wallet was stolen earlier in the day so he didn't have any money...it was obvious that this was the opportunity he had been looking for all week. He gave the man a ride to the
gas station, bought a gas container and a couple gallons of gas and took the guy back to his van. During the ride to and from the gas station, (which was about 10 miles each way), he shared with him about God, our church and the project impact "assignment". The man was so impressed and said he couldn't believe there were still people like that in the world. He also said that he may even come to church on Sunday.
It was cool how God has his own timing and waited for just the right person for him to help...but I know that because of God.

I had five dollars, and paid for the lady behind me at the starbucks drive through. that sunday, i had been thinking about how many people just needed to be told they were appreciated. so before i went to the starbucks, i wrote a little note saying something along the lines of, "Thanks so much for everything you do. You really make a difference in people's lives. So, this one's on me." i hope the note and coffee
gave her a lift.

My $5.00 went to two men that were collecting recycleables in my parking lot at work. His eyes lit up when I gave it to him, and he wouldn’t let me leave until I gave him a hug. He said, “May God bless you.” And we parted. Lesson learned: little things can make a big impact.

I used my $5.00 to take someone to lunch, which always puts her children and grandchildren before herself. Often she goes hungry and the end of the month because of her giving to others. The Subway sandwich we had was enough for 2 or 3 meals for her (with our leftovers). I received a wonderful hug from her and we both praised God for our shared meal. Thank you for blessing me.

I went down to my local gas station in Hilmar and bought some gum and told the cashier to put ten dollars on the pump of the next person who buys gas. She was rather shocked.
